Scientific collaboration

How we work
with scientists.

Scientific relationships are central to how we commercialize science.

Our approach is grounded in established relationships with scientists and scientific founders. We bring operating experience to the questions that connect discovery with a useful product: what has been demonstrated, what remains uncertain and what the next stage of development requires.

Working with Dr. Cirrito

A scientist.
A company builder.

Dr. Tom Cirrito is a biotechnology founder and operator whose experience includes advancing an original therapeutic concept from preclinical development through FDA approval. He brings that experience to discussions about the experiments, development choices, people and resources needed to move a technology forward.

The scientist’s knowledge remains central. We work to understand the reasoning behind the results, discuss limitations candidly and connect the research with the practical decisions involved in building a company.

Prior development experience does not assure regulatory approval or commercial success for other technologies.

Our framework

How we evaluate
and advance the work.

Company Mosaic

We look at a company as an interconnected whole: its scientific evidence, intellectual property, clinical and regulatory requirements, manufacturing, commercial need, leadership and financing.

These pieces are evaluated together to understand how a technology could become a viable business and what still needs to be built or tested. No single strength is considered in isolation.

Red Light:Green Light

We review the evidence before committing further time and capital. A green light supports moving to the next stage; a red light calls for pausing or reconsidering the plan.

Depending on what we learn, we may advance, modify, partner, delay or discontinue the work. Decisions use stage-appropriate milestones and criteria and are revisited as new information develops.

The process

From scientific evidence
to a development plan.

Every technology has its own path. Our development process connects scientific judgment with practical operating decisions.

  1. Understand the science and its intended use

We consider the discovery, the problem it could address, its stage of development and the scientist’s objectives. This work begins within established professional relationships and provides the context for evaluating a potential path to commercialization.

  2. Examine the evidence

We examine the results, methods, reproducibility and unanswered questions, with appropriate confidentiality protections. We consider relevant experience with analogous technologies while recognizing that each technology requires its own evidence.

  3. Define the next meaningful milestones

We use the Company Mosaic to connect the science with intellectual property, development requirements, manufacturing, commercial need and financing. Together, we identify the work that could resolve the most important uncertainties, the resources required and the decisions those results would inform.

  4. Build the right company and relationships

Depending on the opportunity, this may involve developing an existing company or forming a new one, recruiting leadership, engaging specialist resources and working with technology transfer offices or other rights holders. Proposed roles, intellectual property arrangements and commercial terms are addressed before commitments are made.

  5. Advance as the evidence develops

Our Red Light:Green Light framework connects further development and capital commitments to stage-appropriate decision gates. Results may support advancing, refining, partnering, pausing or discontinuing a program. The development plan evolves with the evidence.
